FAIRLIE 55, SOLD.

08/May/2012

When Ancasta first introduced the new Fairlie 55 to the world at the Cannes Yacht Show last September, we knew that the combination of an exquisite classic design and exemplary craftsmanship would make her a real head turner.

It didn’t take long before she found her rightful owner, who perhaps unsurprisingly, hails from the glamorous film industry. To be enjoyed as a family weekend retreat, she will be deservedly idolised in all her glory while moored in her new home, the luxury marina at Portofino, Italy.

The Fairlie 55 is the first in the new ‘spirit of tradition’ class and while recapturing the style and allure of a golden era, offers high performance sailing and is constructed of only the finest quality materials.  Fairlie Yachts are delighted that their much acclaimed design will be used as intended, and enjoyed in the sunny climes she deserves.

FAIRLIE 55 - SAILING OFF COWES

15/August/2011

The newly-launched Fairlie 55 was put through her paces in a fresh breeze in the Solent this week revealing superb performance and handling to match her fine looks. With finely crafted period design combined with state of the art technology, the first in the Spirit of Tradition class of quality sailing yachts lived up to expectations in her first sea trials ahead of an official launch at the Cannes International Yacht & Boat Show in Cannes next month.

Designer Paul Spooner said the Fairlie 55’s had performed “exceptionally well” in her first outing under sail. “We had high expectations for the Fairlie 55’s performance and she has exceeded them this week. She has proved herself to be outstanding out on the water and we’re looking forward to showing her off to potential buyers. She is really easy to handle, responsive and fast – all in all a real pleasure to sail,” Spooner said.

Less than two weeks ago the Fairlie 55 was lifted into the water by Hamble Yacht Services from Fairlie’s premises where the yacht has been constructed by a team of highly skilled craftsmen. The final finishing touches are now been made before the yacht is transported to the south of France for an official launch and international media visits at the Cannes International Yacht and Boat Show which runs from 6-11 September 2011.

Fairlie’s Duncan Walker said: “This week’s sea trials have cemented our belief that the Fairlie 55 will perform well in any regatta fleet. Although she boasts the styling of a vintage boat, don’t be deceived as she also benefits from a state of the art rig and sails, together a modern underwater body coupled with a fin and bulb keel which ensures that her performance is second to none.”

Alastair Shove of Ancasta Yachts, the exclusive international sales agents for the Fairlie 55, said: “We’re delighted that this week’s sea trials for the Fairlie 55 have gone so well. She has revealed herself to be a remarkable performer out on the water and there is still the opportunity to be the owner of a boat that is already turning heads thanks to her exquisite looks and great performance.”

With final finishing and sea trials well underway on the first yacht in this new class, work has already started on the build of the next Fairlie 55 with frames being laminated at Fairlie’s premises in Hamble. The Spirit of Tradition yachts will comprise the Fairlie 55, the Fairlie 66, the Fairlie 78 and the Fairlie 110.

The finely crafted yacht was transferred from Fairlie’s premises at Hamble Yacht Services to be lifted into the River Hamble under glorious sunshine. Fairlie’s Duncan Walker said: “It’s phenomenal what the team has achieved in the last seven months. I’ve been immensely proud of the work everyone has put in to ensure the whole process has been carried out to the very highest standard and on schedule. Now the most important thing is to go for a sail and we’re confident that her performance will live up to her looks.

Following the successful turning of the hull in March, the build has progressed to plan and within weeks the yacht will be turning heads in the Solent as sea trials get underway. Designer Paul Spooner said he was pleased to see the launch go so smoothly after such an intense period of preparation. “As a designer it is always a big day when the boat finally gets wet, but everything went to plan and we’re now looking forward to putting her through her paces under sail,” he said.

Following sea trials and visits from potential buyers, the Fairlie 55 will be transported to the South of France for an official launch at the Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show, which runs from 6-11 September. The Fairlie 55 will be on display in the Vieux Port giving visitors the chance to preview the
yacht in a world-class setting.

Alastair Shove of Ancasta Yachts, the exclusive international sales agents for the Fairlie 55, said: “We’re delighted to see the first Fairlie 55 successfully
lifted into the water on schedule today and look forward to showing our clients her superb performance to match her stylish looks over the coming weeks both in the Solent and at Cannes.”

As the first boat was lowered into the water, plans were already underway to commence the build of the next Fairlie 55. “Within the next two weeks we’ll start to laminate the frames for the next boat, so there’ll be little let up on the workload,” Duncan Walker said.
